Last week Association of Children’s Culture in Finland’s (ACCF) director Aleksi Valta travelled to Seoul, Republic of Korea. On May 23rd, Valta participated and presented at the 6th forum of What’s Next for Arts & Culture Education. The theme of the conference was Innovating Arts Experiences and Cultural Spaces for Children and Families of Tomorrow. In his presentation, Valta presented the network of children’s cultural centres and its different member organisations, along with the association’s main programmes Art Testers and Cultural Education Plans. The conference included presentations from France (La Villetta, Paris), UK (Young V&A museum, London and Assemble, London), and Finland.

Before the conference, the speakers and leaders of the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, KACES visited the site of a new cultural space for children and families in Seoul.On Thursday night, May 22nd, Valta and the President of the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service (KACES), Dr. Eunsil Park signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organisations. In the MOU the Association of Children’s Culture in Finland (ACCF) and the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service (KACES) agree to mutually exchange and cooperate in the promotion and development of arts and cultural education advanced by both institutions. In connection with the development of a new cultural space for children and families in Korea, ACCF and KACES will engage in mutual learning and cooperation to foster creative, inclusive, and culturally rich environments for children and young people.
