The world’s biggest art review is under way

The Association of Finnish Children’s Cultural Centres coordinates the national Art Testers campaign, which offers all 8th grade pupils two opportunities to experience art. These 14–15-year-old pupils and their teachers get a free-of-charge visit to theatre, opera, museum or art exhibition, for instance. In selecting the art organisations, emphasis is put on the artistic quality of the works but also to information directed at young people in an interesting way. The youth are guaranteed access to art despite the distances and the location of their home town. They will visit one art institution in their own province and for the second visit, they travel to the capital Helsinki – or if they live in the capital region, they travel elsewhere in Finland. The first trips were made in September 2017.

The Art Testers campaign is bilingual and offered in both the official languages, Finnish and Swedish. In Finnish history, this is the largest cultural project directed at young people and it is financed by the Finnish Cultural Foundation and the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland.
