Statement of the Association of Children’s Culture in Finland against the genocide of the Palestinian people

Finland must take immediate action to stop the genocide in Gaza. The genocide must be prevented, and the violence and destruction must come to an end.

The human rights of all people must be secured both in Israel and in Gaza and the other Palestinian territories. So far, more than 60,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza, of whom 30% are under 18 years old. We are especially concerned about the children of Gaza. According to UNICEF, more than 400 children are killed or injured every day. According to the United Nations, at least 21,000 children have been disabled since the beginning of the war, and 40,500 children have sustained war-related injuries. Humanitarian aid must have unhindered access to Gaza and be available to everyone.

After this critical situation, Gaza will need significant medical support as well as support in securing the rights of people with disabilities. Finland must receive patients from Gaza and allocate resources for supporting the victims of Gaza.

In addition to the humanitarian crisis, we are concerned about Gaza’s cultural actors, the region’s cultural heritage, museums, and cultural sites amidst immense destruction.

Finland can make a difference. Trade with Israel must be stopped, and significant sanctions must be imposed against Israel. The recognition of the State of Palestine is symbolic, but it also has an impact. We appeal to you: the Government of Finland and the President of the Republic must do everything in their power to achieve lasting peace and a solution.

We demand swift action for peace. Finland must not remain a bystander to genocide.
