Opening the Nordic Art Sector
Foreign-born art workers in art and culture institutions

Seminar on Friday 16 May 2019, 9.30 am to 4 pm
Hanaholmen – the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre, Hanasaarenranta 5, Espoo

How do arts and cultural institutions open their doors to people of different backgrounds not just as audiences, but also as active agents and makers?

In many of the Nordic countries there are ongoing projects, working towards a better inclusion of foreign-born art and cultural workers in the field of art and culture of the society. This seminar gives the participant an opportunity to access results achieved, share best practices and new ideas that can be applied in one’s own line of work or within the organization.

This invitation is for decision makers, artists and cultural workers and those interested to discuss projects dealing with the situation of foreign-born artists and cultural workers in the Nordic countries. A collaboration between Globe Art Point, Hanaholmen, Cupore and Culture for All, the seminar is supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland. The event is part of the #Stophatrednow festival 2019 program.

The program will consist of the presentation and discussions of the results of the Finnish projectAvaus/Opening: Becoming an agent in the field of arts and culture in Finland. Followed by presentations and discussions of other Nordic projects such as:
Konsten att delta (SE)
An inclusive cultural sector in the Nordics (NO)

Several Nordic networks with this theme will present themselves in panel discussions and workshops, e.g.The Museum of Movements (SE), sharing and creating opportunities for new ideas, networks and partnerships.

The day ends in an informal mingle.
